Scholarships
The Tustin Public Schools Foundation (TPSF)
administers three scholarships for Tustin Unified School District high school
seniors.
The Steve Hume Memorial Scholarship
- April 15 deadline (Tustin High School)
$500 for a Tustin High School graduating high school senior who has excelled in
science. This scholarship is presented annually by the Hume family in
memory of Steve Hume, a former science teacher at Tustin High School.
Applicants should be a graduating THS student with demonstrated effort and
creativity that has inspired excellent achievement in science.

Ryan Watanabe Memorial Scholarship
For Scholar Athletes - April 15 deadline (Tustin High School)
$1,000 to a Tustin High School Scholar Athlete. This scholarship
is presented by the Watanabe family in memory of Ryan Watanabe, who was a
17-year old Tustin High School junior on the Junior Varsity Basketball team with
a 4.6 grade point average. He had achieved the scholar-athlete award for his
three years at Tustin High. He exemplified hard work and dedication in
everything he attempted. Although Ryan was fun loving, his determination to be
the best at school and athletics made him a positive influence on those around
him. This scholarship will continue to help others in a manner that Ryan would
have wanted.

Soroptimist Scholarship - April 15
deadline (all TUSD high schools)
The Santa Ana/Tustin Soroptimist International Scholarship is presented
annually to a graduating TUSD female student who is in financial need.
Applicants can be from Beckman, Foothill, Hillview or Tustin High Schools.
The award ranges from $500 - $750 and is to be used by the awardee as needed,
while pursuing higher education.

Nelson Elementary Alumni Scholarship -
May 15 deadline
Jeff Chien, a Nelson Elementary School teacher and 2008 Teacher of the Year
nominee, has partnered with the Tustin Public Schools Foundation to establish a
scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior that attended Nelson Elementary
School. Two $250 awards will be granted to assist with books and supplies for
higher education.
