What is it?
Save Our Sports is a campaign led by the Tustin Public Schools Foundation to
support after-school sports in Tustin Unified middle schools (Currie,
Columbus Tustin, Hewes, Pioneer, Utt, and now Orchard Hills).
What do we do?
Parents, community members, teachers, school administrators and the Tustin
Public Schools Foundation have joined together to raise funds for the middle
school sports programs, which were threatened with elimination due to
anticipated budget cuts. Each middle school is asked to contribute $2500
towards their athletic program, while parents are asked to pay a fee for
their child to participate in a sport, and TPSF raises funds so that any
student, regardless of his or her ability to pay, has the opportunity to
play a sport in middle school.
What sports teams will be funded for 2010-2011?
For the 2010-2011 school year, the “Save Our Sports” Program is helping to
provide funding for cross country, soccer, basketball, and volleyball at
Columbus Tustin, Currie, Hewes, Pioneer, Utt, and Orchard Hills. Track and
field instruction will take place in PE class, and students will be
encouraged to participate in the Tustin City Track Meet in the spring.
