DINOSAUR DASH 2006
· We broke our own record with 7,176 registered runners/walkers in the Shea Properties ♦ Centex Homes ♦ Shea Homes Dinosaur Dash at The Market Place. · More runners graduated to the 5K this year. Our top 5K finisher was Jonathan Beck at 15:07. · The Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation Brontosaurus Blitz 2K is one of the top 10 races for children in the USA. · The SunCal 10K attracted runners and walkers of all ability levels. Our top 10K finishers were Juan Ramirez at 33:18 and Ben Mejia at 33:40. · Donors provided over 400 “runnerships,” underwriting student registrations. · 100 exhibit booths featured product samples, Nike trial shoes, spin the wheel games, snacks, an Anaheim Ducks hockey rink, bowling and more. · 22 of those booths were raising funds for individual schools through popcorn sales, Dinosaur beads, drinks, games, balloons and face painting. · Over 350 volunteers helped out at the Dinosaur Dash, including the mayor, school board members, the Superintendent, teachers, administrators, parents and students. · Proceeds of over $180,000 will help to ensure excellence in Tustin Unified schools through the programs of the Tustin Public Schools Foundation: · $5 per registration to participating classrooms/schools · Classroom Grants, this year focusing on math and science · Tutors for the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program, preparing middle and high school students for college · Banking on Books, providing new library books at each school · Other projects which promote excellence in our schools
