Foothill High School
graduate Bradley Walker
learned about teamwork from his
experience in Tustin Unified
schools. He went on to play
football for USC (number 48).
Bradley talks about lessons
learned in sports:
The best part of
being a team is learning how to work
together to achieve a common goal
(winning championships). It is about
the camaraderie and the friendship
formed through competition and hard
work. Above all, being part of
a team is about having fun with each
other. I had so much fun playing
with all my friends for four years
that sometimes I forgot that I was
actually competing against other
teams.
You can learn many
lessons that will last a lifetime
through competition and sport. First
of all you learn how to work hard
and you learn how to push yourself
to new limits and heights. You learn
how to rely on your teammates in the
heat of battle and in high pressure
situations. I will always say that
the biggest thing I learned is to
just flat out compete in anything
that you do. Whether it's getting an
A on a test or catching the winning
touchdown pass, you are always
competing with yourself and other
outside forces to become better at
what you do. This is not saying that
you have to be the best or that you
have to try to be the best. This is
about believing in yourself to
achieve something good like an A on
a test. To push yourself to be the
best person you can possibly be.
I would tell them to work hard
but above all have fun. Be
respectful of the game and each
other and push each other to get
better in the classroom and on the
field.
Support after-school sports by underwriting the cost of participation for a
student (or a few!).
Your tax-deductible donation of any amount will
be used to ensure that all students,
regardless of financial means, continue to benefit from a fulfilling and enriching
experience at our schools.
